子守唄

みなさんに子守唄の思い出はありますか？　私の母は歌うのが好きで私が幼いころはよく子守唄を歌ってくれました。父は外国航路の船員だったので長い航海にでると何ヶ月も帰ってくることはありませんでした。今から考えてみるとおそらく母は寂しさを紛らわせるために歌っていたのかもしれません。なぜならその歌が「お父さん　早く帰ってね」と始まるからです。

英語で子守唄を歌ってみたい人におすすめなのは、1850年の子守唄、Sweet and Lowです。この子守唄を歌うたびに、航海士の制服に身を包み私を抱き上げてくれた今は亡き父を懐かしく思い出します。
